FREELANCING VS LIVING PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK
What is freelancing?
Freelancing is a contract-based profession where instead of being recruited in an organisation, the person uses his skills and experience to provide services to a number of clients.
Freelancing however isn't similar to a work from home job home , however freelancing might involve working from home.A work from home job involves a contract between you and a single employer who gives you a salary while freelancing doesn’t. But is it a good choice for a career? Can you sustain a lavish life while freelancing? That's the question we are going to answer.
All this along with advantages like freedom to work from anywhere at a time of your choice, being your own boss, keeping all the profits, and a lower cost of operating surely attracts a lot of people to take freelancing as careers. But not many who do it as a full time job . Most people mainly use it as another stream of income.
In every African household,It is deeply rooted in our minds to look for a guarantee. A regular job provides us with a guarantee of a profession that pays at the specified time. You get a routine to follow. And this job also provides with guaranteed perks such as insurance, retirement benefits, provident fund, increments and salary hikes for performing well . And that's why most people actually prefer to live from paycheck to paycheck instead of freelancing.
Living paycheck to paycheck is an expression that means all of your income goes toward your monthly living expenses, like your rent or mortgage, utilities, groceries and other essential costs, living the average human being with little to none when it comes to saving money. For the people who live from paycheck to paycheck mainly save using the 50,20,30 rule. 50%goes to handling your essentials( rent, food and other bills like internet) . 20%goes to paying for the extra things ( eatouts, hair nails) and 30%goes to saving . So basically the average human being lives from paycheck to paycheck.

Great article.
ReplyDeleteI honestly donot know what I prefer. I have had a feel of each. As a social worker its safer to have a job depending on one's career goals . For 'freelancers' you have to build a solid brand around community work or start your own NGO.
But as a writer, I prefer freelancing. I get bored easily so writing for various genres ( of course those that are in my wheel house ), for various companies. The experience is great.
But I am young, I hope to experience and learn some more.
