THE KENYAN MUSIC SCENE : LIVE EVENTS EDITION

You may have seen "pass the aux " on every Instagram  story  and ad on your profile but what really is pass the aux? well ,Pass the Aux" is a dynamic event series curated by House of Banter, aiming to celebrate the richness and diversity of the Kenyan music scene. The event provides a platform for both emerging and established artists to showcase their talents, fostering a sense of community among music enthusiasts. I had the pleasure of attending the   first pass the aux edition of the year and  lets just say I was beyond impressed , not only by the performances , but  also by the organization  by the curators themselves and vibanda village did not dissapoint . Below are some of the amazing artists that graced the stage on Sarturday .

CHARISMA .

Fidel Shammah, professionally known as Charisma or Luhya Heat, is a dynamic Kenyan singer, songwriter, and performer hailing from Nairobi. He initially gained prominence as a member of the Kenyan music group Le Band before embarking on a solo career in 2019 with his solo ep , With love charisma  , followed by beneath the surface. In August 2024, Charisma released his debut album, "The Motions," which showcases his versatility by blending various genres and styles. The album features collaborations with notable Kenyan artists, including Trio Mio, Bensoul, Watendawili, Mutoriah, and Okello Max. 







BRANDY


Over the years, Brandy has built an impressive discography featuring tracks such as "Kubali," "Dark Skin," "Loverman," and the award-winning "Danger Dinji," a collaboration with Movas Warombosaji that earned her the Pulse Music Video Award for New Artist of the Year.
Beyond her solo work, Brandy has collaborated with various artists, including Umoja Sounds, Ethan Muziki, Maandy Kabaya, and Enoque Wambua, emphasizing the importance of genuine connection and shared passion in her collaborative efforts.

COSTER OJWANG

In his visual art, Ojwang employs bold strokes and vibrant colors, drawing inspiration from personal experiences, places, people, and nature.In addition to his musical pursuits, Coster is an accomplished contemporary impressionist painter. He studied art at The Mwangaza Art School in Kisumu, graduating in 2015, and subsequently moved to Nairobi to further his artistic career. His works have been showcased at venues such as the National Museum of Kenya and internationally in Australia, the United States, and the Netherlands. 
Ojwang's performances are known for their soulful energy and positive vibrations, captivating audiences with his unique fusion of folk and contemporary sounds. 


NJERAE

Her music blends Afro-Indie, soul, and R&B elements, creating a distinctive sound that resonates with a wide audience. She has released notable singles such as "aki sioni, OTD" and "Tuthi Nawe," the latter featuring Charisma.Her debut album, "Unintentional," released in May 2024, showcases her storytelling prowess and musical versatility. The album features tracks that explore themes of love and personal growth, delivered through her soulful vocals and engaging melodies.Njerae's live performances are known for their energy and emotional depth, captivating audiences at various events .
